Jim Reaston

Jim Reaston

Jim was admitted to practice on 27 February 1979 after serving articles of clerkship with Wilson Ryan & Grose Solicitors and upon admission relocated from Townsville to Cairns where he has resided and practised since.
Jim ProfileInitially employed by Farrellys Lawyers, in 1980 Jim commenced employment with Cairns firm JF Pescott and Associates. In 1981, Jim became a partner in that firm and practised under the name of Pescott Reaston Lawyers until 2001 when the partnership was dissolved. From 2001 until 2011, Jim practised as a sole practitioner under the name Reaston Lawyers which amalgamated with O’Reilly Stevens Lawyers in 2012. Jim has now decided to resurrect the Reaston Lawyers name in Cairns together with other members of Reaston Drummond Law.

Having practised in most areas of law in the early part of his career, Jim settled on Commercial, Conveyancing and Wills and Estates as his preferred areas of practice and has practised almost exclusively in those areas for the past 25 years.

Over the years, Jim has developed a clear understanding of the needs and wishes of the residents and business people of Cairns and its surrounding district. He has established a network of associates in other professions with whom he works closely in servicing his clients.

Jim is a past President of the Far North Queensland Law Association and a current Senior Counsellor with the Queensland Law Society. Jim is an honorary solicitor of a number of sporting clubs and charities.

Jim is married to Bev Reaston and has 3 adult children.
